The gateway to life in the Spirit
Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other Sacraments. It is the first Sacrament of initiation that welcomes an individual into the Kingdom of God, removes the stain of original sin, and plants the first gift of the Holy Spirit within their hearts. It is from Baptism that each of our vocations flows.
Adults and children over the age of seven are baptized during the Easter season and have a longer period of preparation through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Learn more
Infant baptisms at St. Patrick are held on the first, second, and third Sundays of the month at 1:00 PM in the church. To request a baptism date, please complete our Baptism Request Form below.
Before baptism, parents are required to attend a Baptism Preparation Class. If you have attended a baptism class for a previous child, you do not need to attend again.
The infant being baptized is required to have at least one godparent. If two godparents are selected, they must be one male and one female. Both godparents must be baptized members of the Christian faith, and at least one Godparent must be a baptized and practicing Catholic. A baptized Christian of another denomination may be asked to serve as a Christian Witness. The Catholic godparent(s) will need to complete a Godparent Eligibility Form and have it signed by the pastor of their parish attesting to their ability to serve as a godparent.
