COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC WOMEN
The Council of Catholic Women (CCW) is a working organization living out our parish mission statement “…as disciples of Christ, are striving to be a community of caring people, welcoming others to Jesus. Activated by faith…sharing our talents and resources in the service of our familes, our parish, and all God’s people.” The Council of Catholic Women is open to any woman in the parish whether you are married or single, young or vintage, with or without children. We welcome all of you! Our meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 2PM September through June.
WHAT WE DO
Our involvement stretches from donations to many charitable organizations, to service in the area and in the parish. Our organization is always humming with activity; we always have need of more members. As the saying goes many hands make light work. Please don’t get the impression that we are all work and no play because that simply wouldn’t be true. Listed below are some of the things we are responsible for.
ALTAR WINE & HOSTS
Donated monies help toward obtaining the wine and host for our parish. We contribute at least $2,000.00 a year.
VESTMENTS & VESSELS
These are purchased by Council of Catholic Women as they are needed. At the same time we take care of the cost of laundering all the linen and any repairs that need to be done.
Council of Catholic Women prepares a luncheon for those families who wish in the time of’ bereavement.
We clean the sanctuary on a weekly basis.
Council of Catholic Women coordinates receptions, farewells, and ordinations for the parish.
Our organization is involved in the arts and crafts for our annual parish festival.
We help the parish office with mailings.
BLOOD BANK & HEALTH-O-RAMA
Our ladies help the local Red Cross by volunteering when the Blood bank goes to local churches and making the Health-O-Rama run smoothly with our presence.
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
Donations given to this organization go to the needy in our own area.
MADONNA PLAN, WATER FOR LIFE & PENNY POT
Donations collected are sent to the NCCW Madonna Plan which complements the Catholic Relief Service emphasis on the family as the cornerstone of development. These are contributions given specifically to help women and children. The Madonna Plan provides pre-natal care, counseling, teaching sewing and weaving for income generation, education and training. Water for Life builds wells and water systems in rural villages or urban slums. Penny Pot provides money for postage and mailing of literature.
As you can see we are an active group of women. We need your companionship and support. Our yearly dues are $10.00 which helps us with all the above. An envelope is provided in your box of envelopes in January. Your donation can be applied to your total church contribution tax deduction.
We are affiliated with the National Council of Catholic Women (NCCW) who is a support to our local organization.
