Professional health care workers (doctor, dentist, therapist, nurse, nutritionist, etc) offer their time and talent to participate in the Church’s mission to be a community of caring people -mind, body, and spirit. This team meets only twice a year to plan their educational and medical services to parishioners. Examples of these are Advanced Care Planning presentation, Emergency Awareness presentation, bulletin health articles, senior exercise classes through our partner St. Joseph Mercy Health Services. Please contact the Christian Service office for more information.

Senior Exercise Programs to be offered at St. Patrick or nearby:

1.     Senior FIT Program (by St. Joe’s Mercy Health System) - Free

a.     SJMAA Senior Fit is a FREE exercise program for both internal members and broader community members aged 55 and over.

b.     This is a very popular program in Ann Arbor and Oakland County. It is in the works for Livingston, but we are estimating that it won’t start until the beginning of November at St. Patrick Parish.

c.      SJMHS will provide a qualified fitness instructor to lead group exercise aimed at the four major components of senior fitness: cardiovascular (light aerobics)—balance—coordination—and strength training.  There is no cost to participants, and the program requires only an easily accessible space as well as sturdy chairs for participants to use.  All exercises are performed either standing or sitting (no jumping or need for yoga mats on the floor) and can be adapted to all fitness levels and all ages (there are people in their mid-90’s doing Senior Fit!)

d.     SJMAA will require a signed Participant form and Physician consent form to be kept on file for each participant (valid for 12 months from date of signing.)

e.     SJMAA will provide qualified instructors for each one hour Senior Fit session.

2.     A Matter of Balance (by St. Joe’s Mercy Health System) - Free
