migrant and Hispanic ministry

WE welcome our migrant worker neighbors…

Migrant farm workers arrive at Buurma Farms near Gregory, MI in June every year.  Many times, they travel with nearly all of their possessions and don’t have room to bring a lot of things we take for granted, such as laundry soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. To welcome them back to Michigan and show our support, all parishes of Livingston County collect items to make Welcome Baskets for the households living at the farm. The deacons and their wives, with some volunteers, assemble and deliver the baskets in early July, once all of the workers arrive.

St. Pat’s has participated in the collection of bottled water, laundry soap, laundry baskets, dish soap, dish towels, dish cloths, and towels in the past years and we thank all those that have so generously donated.  We also volunteer with the sacramental preparation of some of the workers, and visit them on a regular basis. For more information or if you want to get involved, please contact the Christian Service office.

On behalf of all our brothers and sisters working at Buurma Farms, thank you for your support and prayers.
