How to Keep Your Kids Catholic: New Study

Written by two professors, there is a new article out in the Church Life Journal at Notre Dame that discusses research that indicates there are key behaviors in parents who successfully pass their faith onto their children. A summary article is available here.

Encounter Healing Service (Friday August 22)

We are having another public healing service at St Pat’s on Friday August 22nd in the Church run by Encounter Ministries. God really heals people at these services and they also serve as powerful ways of sharing the gospel with people who don’t believe. If you know someone who needs healing, please consider bringing them to the service.

Support for Humanitarian Aid in Gaza

Archbishop Timothy Broglio, president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), has asked all dioceses of the United States to assist with humanitarian relief efforts and pastoral support in Gaza. He writes, “It is with great pastoral concern for the ongoing crisis in Gaza that I write to you today. Our Church mourns the terrible suf ering of Christians and other innocent victims of violence in Gaza and surrounding areas who are struggling to survive, protect their children, and live with dignity in dire conditions. The Holy Father continues to call for a cease fire and for aid to enter the territory, noting with great sorrow that ‘Gaza is starving.’”

Archbishop Broglio asks Catholics to prayerfully consider giving via The Catholic Near East Welfare Association and Catholic Relief Services or Catholic Relief Services (CRS) as you are able.

Homilies on YouTube

Just a reminder that all our homilies are on our YouTube page. For the most part, the homilies I preach are the same at all of the Masses, but sometimes the clearest version of my homily is posted online. The posting of last weekend’s homily is an example of this.

Your servant in the Lord,
Fr. Mathias
