Volunteer Requirements

St. Patrick Catholic Parish is committed to providing a safe environment for all of our children. Therefore, we abide by the Safe Environment: Protecting God’s Children policies put forth by the U.S. Bishops in 2002. These policies mandate the Diocese of Lansing requirement that all adults 18 years and older who interact with minors are required to complete the following steps before working or volunteering in any capacity with our students:

  • VIRTUS Training (Protecting God’s Children): Register for and attend a "Protecting God's Children" awareness session. This training can be completed as a live in-person workshop or as an online module. To get started, create an account at VIRTUS Online and select "Lansing, MI (Diocese)" as your organization.

  • Criminal Background Check: Submit a signed Background Check Disclosure and Authorization Form. A standard ICHAT check is performed for long-term Michigan residents, while a National Background Check is required for those who have lived outside the state within the last 10 years.

  • Code of Conduct: Read and sign the Diocese of Lansing Code of Conduct for Clergy, Employees, and Volunteers. This document outlines the standards of behavior and safety protocols required of all who represent St. Patrick Parish.

If you have any questions regarding these requirements or need assistance with the registration process, please contact our parish office:
