Pastor’s Corner — December 28th, 2025
Thank You for Your Generosity!
One of the best parts about being in this parish is the sheer generosity of our members to those in need. I received this note from Kim Kaye, our Director of Christian Service and Outreach, highlighting some of the advent giving in our ministries:
• For Advent giving: 314 individuals received gifts via Adopt a family
• We had 360 tags on our tree. (most were taken and returned)
• We had exceptional support for our homeless shelter, Walking with Moms in Need and jail outreach, and we received extra items above and beyond the requested list
This is notwithstanding the incredible generosity people have shown toward the St Vincent de Paul Society, Catholic Charities, and the Parish in the end of year giving! Thanks so much!
January 1: Holy Day of Obligation
Just a reminder that this week’s Solemnity to honor Mary the Mother of God is a holy day of obligation. Please see our Mass times to schedule coming to Mass.
K of C Holy Family Consecration
On Sunday, the Knights of our Parish are using the prayer composed by Archbishop William Lori that by which families entrust themselves to the intercession and protection of the Holy Family. From the K of C website:
“In this prayer, we ask for the aid or intercession of the perfect son Jesus Christ, Mary the perfect mother, and Joseph who is a model for every father. Councils will guide their parishes and community to understand and of er this prayer. Preparing for the Consecration to the Holy Family is not a single event. It is choosing a way of life for your family. Through this consecration, each participant is consciously choosing to be a beacon of God’s love through His Church.”
This prayer card will be available for families to pray on their own, and we will also be praying this prayer together after the 9:30am Mass this Sunday.
Vacation
As you read this, I will be on vacation, headed down south for some better weather. I’ll be back for the Solemnity of the Holy Mother of God.
Your servant in the Lord,
Fr. Mathias
