2025 Discipleship Threshold/Small Survey Results
Below are some results of our discipleship and small group survey that we conducted after our preaching series on intentional discipleship.
Survey Notes:
• This survey was conducted during the December 21st weekend Masses for those present (parishioners and non-parishioners alike) who were high school aged and older. This survey was also sent out a couple of times over parish email.
• We had 1710 total responses, 1337 of which are registered St Pat’s parishioners.
• The question on what kind of small group people were in lacked an option to check multiple boxes so the data might not be as useful. Our bad.
• Remember, there is no shame as to where people are at. God loves you where you are and wants to help you grow.
• Nevertheless, these survey results are very encouraging and they help us pastor, preach and love all of you better.
• The pie charts and numbers below reflect only registered St. Pat’s Parishioners who took the survey.
• A meaningful correlation: 67.7% of parishioners who are in small a group are also in the Intentional Discipleship threshold of discipleship. This is not surprising as we know that small groups both help people grow in discipleship and those growing in discipleship desire to be in small groups.
Here are the five thresholds of conversion again:
1. Initial Trust: I trust or have a positive association with Jesus Christ, the Church, a Christian believer, or something identifiably Christian.
2. Curiosity: I am intrigued by or desire to know more about Jesus, his life, and his teachings or some aspect of the Christian faith.
3. Openness: I have acknowledged to myself and to God that I am open to the possibility of personal and spiritual change.
4. Seeking: I am actively and seriously seeking to know Jesus and whether I can commit my whole life to him as his disciple in his Church.
5. Intentional Discipleship: I have made a conscious decision (and commitment) to follow Jesus in his Church as an obedient disciple and to reorder my life accordingly.
Come Holy Spirit!
Your servant in the Lord,
Fr. Mathias
