One Mission Update

I would like to thank everyone that has so generously given to our One Mission 3.0 campaign! We are currently at $135,949.38 of our $250,000 goal. Our original end date for this 3rd campaign was June 30th of this year, but the good news is the diocese will honor donations even after that date. In order for them to do that, we simply need to make a payment in a reasonable time, so please get your donations in as soon as possible. Additionally, as a reminder I am reposting the IRA minimum distribution information that can be used to submit a donation for debt reduction. In just a short couple of years we have been able to reduce our debt by over 4 million dollars! This is such a testament to you all as parishioners living out our core values. Thank you again for your commitment to our parish!

IRA MINIMUM DISTRIBUTION INFORMATION
With an IRA charitable distribution gift you can support the work of St. Patrick Catholic Parish and enjoy valuable tax benefits. Even better, your gift may count toward your required minimum distribution for the year. The Age Requirement for a Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your IRA was CHANGED to Age 72.

If you were born prior to 1949, you are already taking RMDs.

• Born the first half of 1949 (January 1 through June 30), you reached 70 ½ in 2019 and were subject to a 2019 RMD by April 1, 2020.

• Born the second half of 1949 (July 1 through December 31), you turned 70 ½ in 2020 and your first RMD will be due in the year you turn 72, which will be in 2021.

• If you were born after 1949, you take your first RMD the year you reach 72.

USING AN RMD TO PAY YOUR ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC PARISH WEEKLY CONTRIBUTIONS (OR ANY OTHER CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION)
One lump sum could reduce your annual Modified Adjusted Gross Income. This would happen if you have the money sent directly to the nonprofit organization from the financial institution that is holding the funds. This donation is called a “Qualified Charitable Distribution” or QCD.

DEPOSITED RMD FUNDS
Once your RMD funds are deposited into your personal checking or savings account, those funds are no longer tax free and the amount taken will increase your taxable Modified Adjusted Gross Income. Your Financial Institution must direct the funds directly to your church/charity.

HOW TO CONTRIBUTE
To have RMD funds sent directly to St. Patrick Catholic Parish as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), please contact Ryan Nardozzi, Director of Parish Operations and Finance at 810.229.9863 ext. 207. Do this in advance to ensure you meet certain requirements and have the proper information to pass on to your Financial Consultant. Further questions? Contact your CPA or Financial Consultant.

Thank You Gardening Angels

As I’ve been saying for the past few weeks, it is so good to be back home at the parish. One of the things that I’ve  especially appreciated is how beautiful our outdoor grounds are. The flowers, gardens, and landscaping truly reflect the beauty of God’s creation, and I would like to thank all of our Gardening Angels for the hard work they’ve been putting into outdoor spaces.

Fr. Joe’s Going Away Celebration

Just a reminder that Fr. Joe’s parish going-away celebration is next Sunday, June 20th from 12:30 - 4:00 PM in the PLC Activities Room. Everyone is invited to stop by to say goodbye and to enjoy light refreshments. Fr. Joe has been such a gift to me and to St. Patrick Parish, let’s make sure we send him off well!

Your servant in the Lord,
Fr. Mathias
