Special Announcement

This weekend we are making a special announcement at Mass. Isn’t that a cliffhanger?

New Position Available: Part-Time Front Office Secretary

As we grow as a parish and better align responsibilities with giftings, we are now looking to hiring a part-time front office secretary position to add to our current staff. Details of the position and the offer can be found on the Diocesan website. The person in this role will play a key role in welcoming and receiving parishioners and guests as well as assisting in some ways with administrative support for our operations. If you know some who loves the Church, is detail oriented, loves people, and wants to help make disciples of Jesus here at St Pat’s, please encourage them to apply.

The Bitter Poison of Resentment: A Sure Way to Kill a Marriage

Resentment in any relationship is a scourge. In a marriage, it’s a bitter poison that will kill the marriage. In an article called, “The Bitter Poison of Resentment: A Sure Way to Kill a Marriage” author Allison Auth says:

Resentment means there is a toxic buildup of bitterness and frustration from unmet expectations, lack of communication, attention or respect. The root of resentment is often a valid, unmet need. But instead of working to get the need met, we wall up, arm our defenses or get ready to attack. Some examples of resentment at work include:

• Keeping score
• Acting passive-aggressively
• Emotional withdrawal
• Automatically assuming bad intentions
• Dwelling on past hurts
• Being unwilling to see your spouse’s point of view

She then offers an antidote to the poison in your marriage. Read the whole thing.

Our own inner healing is so essential to our capacity to love and receive love. (Wounded people wound people) But God heals. I’m so grateful for the more than two hundred people who attended the Unbound Conference last Saturday; they learned a model of prayer that can set us free from bitterness and resentment. If you missed the conference and want to grow in freedom consider reading the book Unbound: A Practical Guide to Deliverance by Neal Lozano and/or schedule a time with our inner healing and deliverance team.

Your servant in the Lord,
Fr. Mathias
