We’re Hiring! Part-Time Discipleship Administrative Assistant
As we continue to grow here at St Pat's, we are continually seeking to better align our staff with their strengths and improve staff support of our ministries. As part of this process, we are now looking to hire a part-time Discipleship Administrative Assistant position. Details of the position can be found on the Diocesan website. Essentially, the person in this role will provide administrative support across key parish ministries on our Discipleship Pathway to help further our mission of making Spirit-filled missionary disciples of Jesus Christ for the glory of God the Father. If you know someone who loves the Church, is detail-oriented, loves people, and wants to help make disciples of Jesus here at St. Pat’s, please encourage them to apply.
Good News: Left Turn Green Arrows Coming to Church Street
I received word from Brighton City Council that they have decided to add left turn arrows for Church St traffic turning onto Grand River from both directions. While I don’t have a timeline as to when this is happening, it will definitely help with the flow of traffic around St Pat’s.
Church Sewer/Toilet Drama: A Simple Plea
The past few months we’ve had to call the plumbers more times than in the rest of the past eight years I’ve been here for plumbing issues in the Church bathrooms (upstairs and downstairs). The backups, we believe, are likely being caused by what’s being flushed down the toilet. On Saturday plumbers found a thick bunch of paper towel (not toilet paper) clogging everything up.
Here is my simple plea: please don’t flush any paper products other than toilet paper down the toilets. If we keep having this problem, maybe we’ll just do away with paper towel dispensers in the select offending bathrooms and replace them with noisy air dryers. :)
Outpouring Event: Saturday November 15th at 7pm
Every time we pray with people for our WWP retreats, Alpha, CCO offsites, Outpouring events, or healing services, many people are deeply touched by God’s love in ways that change people’s lives. We are doing another one of these Outpouring: Evening of Prayer events next weekend.
The purpose of this event is to pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our lives and to pray for baptism of the Holy Spirit for those who haven’t received that grace yet. Along with preaching and praise music, we have teams of people to pray with people.
If you need more grace in your life, more love, or you just want to encounter his love more deeply, please put this in your calendar. Please consider bringing a friend to receive prayer, to hear the gospel, and to respond to it.
SENT Global Support for Jamaica
Founded by parishioners Alicia Cergnal and Lindsay Koss, SENT Global carries out the great commission by supporting missionaries with a focus on feeding the poor, spreading the Gospel, and tending to the needs of impoverished communities internationally. We’ve supported this ministry by helping raise awareness of their missions to different countries, including Jamaica, with opportunities to give financially, to bring in items to donate to the poor, and to supply missionaries (parishioners) for their trips.
The devastation of Hurricane Melissa has been overwhelming, and the local conditions in Jamaica are far from under control. SENT Global is already helping in the aftermath and needs help. How can you help?
1) Pray and fast for strength, protection, and provision for families and volunteers.
2) Give financially. Your gift puts the love of Jesus into action, bringing urgent relief today, and the hope that Treasure Beach will not be forgotten as they struggle to rebuild tomorrow. To donate click here.
The Triennial National Collection for the Archdiocese of the Military Services (AMS)
Every three years the AMS does a collection to serve our troops. This week our parish is taking up a collection to benefit the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS). The AMS is the Archdiocese for the Military Services, not of the Military Services. This is an important distinction, because the AMS receives no funding from the U.S. Government or U.S. Military and has no parishes from which to receive a weekly assessment. Instead, it must rely on the generosity of those whose values and priorities align with its mission, programs and services, to meet its costs. Please prayerfully consider a contribution to this special collection to support active-duty military men and women, and their families – including those from our own parish. Please give generously.
People receiving envelopes should have received an envelope for this in the mail. To donate please click here.
All hallow’s eve fun at the rectory
