The Spirit-filled Events of Pentecost Weekend (Next Week)
This next weekend is a packed weekend at St Pat’s in our effort to make Spirit-filled disciples:
1) Charism Workshop (Saturday June 7th at 9am-12pm): This workshop on learning your spiritual gifts is Part 1 of 3 in discerning your charisms. Please see the events page for more details on part 2 and 3.
2) Pentecost Vigil (Saturday June 7th at 5pm): At this special vigil Mass, we will celebrate with additional readings and also welcome twenty people into the Catholic Church, who will all receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Please pray for them.
3) Special Restored Evening of Adoration (Saturday June 7th at 7:30pm): This special timing of Restored is for the sake of interceding for a new Pentecost for the parish and the Church as a whole. If you want to see the Church renewed, come to intercede at this powerful event.
4) Pentecost “Outpouring” (Sunday June 8th at 7:00pm) To fill out our Pentecost Weekend at St Pat’s, we are hosting an event for everyone who is hungry to know and encounter God’s love more deeply by praying to receive the grace of Baptism of the Holy Spirit. God is faithful and he longs to pour out more of his love upon us. Parishioners have really been blessed richly at these bi-annual events. If you need more grace in your life, more love, or you just want to encounter his love more deeply, please come. There’s always more of God.
Church Bathrooms: To Flush Or Not to Flush, That’s the Question
As you may have noticed, the past few months we’ve been having some plumbing issues in the Church bathrooms. Based on what they found on Sunday, our Director of Operations wants me to give an awkward reminder to the parish: don’t flush any items or products down the toilet other than toilet paper. We’ve placed signs in the bathrooms as reminders. Thanks.
Something Big is Happening in our Diocese in June
If you don’t have parish email, here is some information that was given in the email last week:
Starting at Pentecost, June 8, and continuing to the Feast of Corpus Christi on June 21st, the whole Diocese will begin an intercessory campaign—a 40 Hours Campaign—like we’ve never done before. Each parish of the Diocese of Lansing, will in turn host Eucharistic Adoration for 40 hours, covering our parishes and our communities in continuous prayer and intercession for the full conversion of all the souls within our boundaries and for the intention of bringing the Gospel of hope to the world. More specifically, the parishes in each Deanery are coordinating their 40 hrs to cover this entire period.
Then, on June 21, we will celebrate a Diocesan-wide Mass at Jackson Field, home of the Lansing Lugnuts. After Mass, we will process with the Eucharist through the heart of Lansing to the Cathedral, culminating in a Corpus Christi celebration on the Capitol Lawn with food and fellowship.
St. Patrick will host our 40 hours of Adoration beginning on Wednesday June 11 at 8am (and ending on June 13 at 12am). To make this event a success, we need your help! Please consider and sign up here for an hour (or more!) of Adoration during this time. If you don’t have access to the internet, please call Carlene Demers at the office to sign up.
I also invite you to visit the Diocesan website for the 40hrs for more information, or pick up one of the brochures placed at all entrances of the Church. My prayer is that your love of our Lord is renewed in your time spent in Adoration with him as we intercede for the conversion of souls.
As of writing, the many generous parishioners have offered their time, but we still have some spots left, mostly on June 13th. Please sign up if you can!
8th Grade Graduation
On Wednesday, May 28, forty-eight 8th grade students will graduate this year from St Pat’s School. We the staff and teachers of St Pat’s School are so very proud of them and wish them the best as they enter high school next fall. Please say a prayer for them as they open the next chapter of their lives.
Your servant in the Lord,
Fr. Mathias
