Parish Festival Success!

If you were among the hundreds of people who went to the Parish Oktoberfest at the school last Sunday, you know it was a smashing success. What a great community building event with music, dancing, drinks and food with activities for kids! Congratulations to the big raffle ticket winners as well. Special thanks to the St. Pat’s School Dad’s Club, Larry Bacon, the Knights of Columbus and Borek-Jennings Funeral Home for all the hard work they did in helping pull this off.

Anointing of the Sick Mass (Healing Mass): October 5th at 10:30 AM in the Church

We haven’t had a Mass with the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick since before the pandemic began. It’s time to bring it back. While Fr. Miguel and I anoint people continuously throughout the year when it is asked for, it’s also fitting to host a special Mass once in a while in which we anoint those who are prepared to receive it.

Just a reminder: the sacrament can be given to any baptized Catholic who is one or more of the following:

a. seriously ill (you could die from the illness you have) or
b. about to undergo serious surgery, or
c. an elderly person who has become notably weakened through age, or
d. a seriously ill child who is the age of reason, or
e. actively dying

I’ve seen God bring about tremendous peace and healing through the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. If you need the Anointing of the Sick, please plan on coming and allow the Risen Christ to bless you on Tuesday, October 5th at 10:30 AM in the Church.

Church Financials

If you missed the Church’s financials in the bulletin last week, we put it here for your convenience. Thanks again for your incredible financial generosity to the parish, which has helped us to do so well. Your faithfulness in giving to the Church is not only sign of living out an essential part of following Jesus, but it also is welcome confirmation that St. Pat’s has a culture of I Am Third Christian service. Such generosity helps us fulfill our mission of bringing more people to know the saving love of Jesus.

Little White Crosses and Sunday’s Life Chain (2PM - 3PM)

Each October the Church in the United States celebrates Respect Life Month, in which we celebrate that each life has intrinsic value from conception to natural death. In last week’s bulletin you saw that we are putting up hundreds of white crosses which represent the lives lost through abortion since the dreadful 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. This Sunday (October 3rd: 2 - 3 PM) we are participating in the annual Life Chain on Grand River Ave outside our parking lot. Please join us in witnessing and praying for an end of abortion in the public square. Get your Pro-Life sign in the parking lot by Grand River, and let’s stretch all the way to Main St. (south side). Families welcome!

Your servant Christ,
Fr. Mathias
