Alpha: Who Will You Invite?

This weekend you heard some great testimonies from people who have attended Alpha. Alpha is an easy entry point for those who do not believe in Jesus and those who have fallen away to hear the gospel in an environment of love, acceptance and community. While it’s primarily for those who aren’t disciples, countless disciples have found their faith renewed and strengthened through the experience. Here are two ways I’m asking you to get involved:

1) Please invite someone you know to consider Alpha. You’re simply inviting people you know to come and enjoy a free meal after which there will be a video to talk about the basics of Christianity. Tell them that they don’t have to commit but they can just come once and even take their commitment week by week, if they want. Alpha’s work when parishioners make an act of faith and invite people. If you’re inviting someone, it’s a good idea to attend the Alpha with them as evangelization is ultimately a relational enterprise. We are doing four eleven week Alphas starting first week of October.

a. Men’s Alpha (Thursdays 6:30 - 8:30 PM in McCann Hall)
b. Young Adult Alpha (Wednesdays 6:30 - 8:30 PM at Aubree’s Pizza, Howell)
c. Morning Alpha (Wednesdays 9:30 - 11:30 AM McCann Hall)
d. Online Alpha (Thursdays 7:00 - 8:30 PM)

To sign up or to learn more about Alpha please see our Alpha website.

2) Alpha is also an important place for parishioners to serve the efforts of evangelization. Many parishioners want to fulfill the Lord’s command to share the gospel but are looking for concrete ways to do this effectively. Serving with Alpha can help one do just that. Afterall, any volunteering role in Alpha is a role that helps the parish evangelize. In that sense serving in the kitchen is just as important as being table hosts and helpers. A lot of people ask how they can get involved in making lasting changes to people’s lives at the parish. Volunteering here can be one of them. We are in need of good volunteers. If you feel called to help the mission of the parish in reaching the lost, please consider going here to sign up to volunteer. If you have any  questions, please email Diane at dtrujillo@stpatchurch.org

Your servant in the Lord,
Fr. Mathias
